Basic Idea
The leitmotiv of the
road-movie is the examination of the influence of contemporary icons onto
the american society. That way the movie gives an insight into various american
lifestyles.
Elvis Presley therefore just appears to be the leading
figure of the film. Actually the movie is about general structures of cult
and worshipping. Particularly about the consequences for the adored icon as well
as for the admiring community.
The interdependence on both sides is
insinuated by the subtitle "I'm yours". It can be interpreted from the perspective
of a cult community member as well as from the icons point of view. They
depend on each other. |
